Grace Life Church, Pryor, Oklahoma
Grace Life Church of Pryor, formerly Pryor Creek Community Church, was planted on January 10th 1999. Pastor Derek Melton, a veteran police officer, had been laboring in the gospel with at-risk teenagers since 1991 and the church plant was in response to the call of God and the need of a local church that would be true to the gospel and love the unlovable. Throughout the years Pastor Derek's study of the scriptures and the reading of the Puritan authors brought him to the doctrines of grace. In the quest to become a Biblical church changes began to be made. Slowly the changes began. In March of 2012 the church split over doctrine.
Providentially, in May of 2012, Pastor Jeff Noblit was preaching a revival in Salina, Ok - only 7 miles from Pryor, OK. During this week Pastor Noblit met with Pastor Derek for lunch daily providing wisdom and encouragement for this time of tremendous difficulty in ministry. (Pastor Melton had attended the True Church Conference on repentance years before and had learned about Anchored In Truth.) Late summer 2012, realizing the need for help and support to continue the arduous task of leading the charge to become a biblically healthy church, Pastor Melton contacted Anchored In Truth. In January 2013, after several meetings with AIT and much prayer, Pryor Creek Community Church became Grace Life Church of Pryor and an Anchored In Truth church plant.
Pastor Derek says, "The help and support given to us from AIT has been both overwhelming and beneficial. The love, support, and guidance of AIT is immeasurably beneficial to Grace Life Pryor. Our relationship continues to bear fruit to the glory of God. We anxiously look forward to many years of fruitful ministry alongside AIT as we strive to become a healthy biblical church for the glory of God."
